Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 11, 2026
Farasa ("Farasa", "we", "us") operates a freelance marketplace connecting clients and freelancers in Iraq, available on iOS, Android, and the web. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Contact us at contact@farasa-iq.com.
1. Information we collect
Account and identity: from Google or Apple Sign-In (our only sign-in methods) we receive your name, email address, and a stable identifier so we can recognize your account on future sign-ins — we never receive or store your Google/Apple password. We also store your language preference, and a phone number if you choose to add one. Profile and marketplace activity: freelancer profile details (skills, bio, portfolio, rate) if you create one; job postings you create as a client; proposals you submit as a freelancer; contracts formed when a proposal is accepted; messages sent through in-app chat tied to a job or contract; reviews and ratings; saved jobs. Payment and payout: your PayPal email, USDT (TRC20/Tron) wallet address, or Zain Cash-registered phone number, whichever you choose, plus transaction records (amount, currency, direction, and status). We do not process or store payment card numbers. Note that Tron blockchain transactions (used for USDT/TRC20 payouts) are recorded on a public ledger by design — a property of that network, not something Farasa controls. Contact form: if you message us through the contact form, we keep your name, email address, and message so we can reply. We also collect basic technical information needed to operate the service (app version, platform) for debugging and security. We do not currently run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
2. How we use this information
To create and secure your account and let you sign in; to operate the marketplace — showing jobs, matching proposals, forming contracts, enabling chat, and processing payments/payouts; to communicate with you about your account, contracts, or support requests; to maintain trust and safety — investigating disputes, reports, or suspected abuse; and to meet legal, tax, or anti-fraud obligations tied to processing payments. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third parties we share information with
Google and Apple, to authenticate your sign-in (they provide us only your name, email, and a stable identifier — never your password). PayPal, Tether (via the Tron network), and Zain Cash, to move funds when you fund a contract or receive a payout — each receives only what it needs to complete that transaction. Other users of Farasa, to the extent your public profile, job posts, proposals, and reviews are inherently visible to the clients or freelancers you interact with. Law enforcement or regulators, if legally required. We do not share your information with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and marketplace data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after that to resolve disputes, meet legal/tax obligations, and prevent abuse. Transaction records tied to payments are kept as required for financial recordkeeping.
5. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit most of your profile information directly in the app. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing contact@farasa-iq.com — some information (such as transaction records) may be retained where we are legally required to keep it. You can sign out of the app at any time, which removes your session from that device.
6. Children's privacy
Farasa is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. International users
Farasa is built for users in Iraq. Depending on how our infrastructure and payment providers operate, your information may be processed outside Iraq. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it is processed.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — for example, authentication tokens rather than storing passwords, since we don't have any. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Farasa evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in-app.
